Biographical Information

Lauren Nichols is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Flute Performance at Fresno Pacific University where she studies with Janette Erickson, Principal Flutist of the Fresno Philharmonic. She is also a double major, studying Studio Art. Lauren is currently a member of the FPU Chamber Winds Ensemble, FCC Symphony Orchestra, La Forza Flute Choir, and FPU Symphonic Band, with which she recently premiered Dr. Walter Saul’s Concerto for Symphonic Band and Flute (2018). She is a Music Honors Academic Achievement Award recipient, Instrumental Music Scholarship Award recipient, President’s Scholar, and Alpha Chi National Academic Honors Society member.

Lauren has been an active performer and teacher. She is a co-founder of the Hamilton Wind Quintet, a wind quintet comprised of young professional musicians, and is on the substitute list for two premier professional orchestras in the California Central Valley. She has also served as Co-Director of Community Flute Choir of Fresno, Flute Instructor for FPU Community Music School, and Flute Clinician for FPU Summer Music Camp, in addition to running her own private studio. During the summers, she has performed in masterclasses throughout the country, and in 2018, she won the Principal Flute position in the College Band Directors National Association Western/Northwestern Division Intercollegiate Band.

In high school, Lauren was a member of the Fresno Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, FMCMEA County Honor Band and Orchestra member, Central California Baroque Festival Competition gold medal recipient, and CMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival Command Performance recipient.

Upon graduation from Fresno Pacific University, Lauren plans on furthering her career in music by attending a graduate program for Flute Performance. She is passionate about teaching and performing.

I believe that music is for everyone and that each individual has their own story to tell. Whether a student wants to pursue a career in music or play as a hobby, I equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to improve on their instrument, reach their goals, and express themselves.
