Copyright & Permissions Live Webinar for Musicians

February 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$12.00

Copyrighted music is a hot topic for musicians.  Out of necessity, singers and instrumentalists are recording and live-streaming music now more than ever. Anahata Music Project wants to help. So, we have designed a live webinar to help musicians learn what they need to know about copyrighted music.

ABOUT THE WEBINAR

This live webinar will be useful for church musicians, music directors, recitalists, composers, social media performers, and music teachers. It is a rare professional development opportunity. So, take advantage of it, and get the right answers to your questions.

Here is an example of what we will cover:

  • Live-streaming performances of other composers’ music;
  • Performing copyrighted music in person or online for money;
  • Church/worship settings with in-person and online services;
  • Performing music for FREE;
  • Definition of “recording”;
  • Consequences of not adhering to U.S. Copyright & Permissions Law;
  • General rules of thumb about copyrighted music and permissions; and
  • Other issues and questions that pop up.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Our presenters are two experts who teach at Groove U in Columbus, Ohio:

Molly Young, Copyright Expert and Professional Musician

BIO: Through my years working with musicians, writing and recording music, as well as touring around the United States, I found so many musicians out there that needed career help. So, I started BOLT Records in 2011 to fill the need for those who could not get reliable information about getting to the next level as a serious musician. Many people were willing to help me and answer my questions when I was starting out. So, I believe it is my turn to give back and help others who are interested and want to work hard. My vision for my company is to work with original artists who have great songs and musicianship. I also want to help them find  fans who are looking for new music.

Patrick McCarthy Esq, Sports and Entertainment Lawyer

BIO: I work as an attorney for Sterling Sports Management, where we represent professional athletes, coaches and recording artists. My experience comes from a non-traditional path to law school and the practice of law, including a 24-year business career in broadcasting, sports administration and software.

A lifelong love of learning led me to earn multiple bachelor’s degrees from The Ohio State University (Communications and Film Studies). Additionally, a passion for justice and small business advocacy drove me to earn my Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School in Bexley, Ohio.
